What is the first step in becoming a bee keeper?
- To start beekeeping, first check your local regulations and join a local beekeeping association for guidance and a mentor.
- Johnston Co. Bee Keepers Association has a great club which also has a mentor program
- Next, take a beekeeping course to learn the necessary theory and gain practical experience, which will also help you determine what equipment and bees to purchase.
- Johnston Co. Bee Keepers Association offers a Bee School the last Saturday in February every year
- Finally, set up a suitable location for your hive, acquire your equipment, and obtain your bees, all while ensuring you have adequate time to maintain the hives.
- When you are ready our staff at Bee Centric Apiary can help with your bees and questions.
